Lahore: Under the chairmanship of President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman, an awareness seminar titled 'Why and How to Perform Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi' was held at the Alkhidmat Head Office. The seminar aimed to educate participants on the religious significance of Eid-Al Azha, safety protocols during animal sacrifice, proper meat preservation, and the protection of sacrificial hides. Experts also provided guidance on maintaining hygiene standards and fulfilling religious obligations responsibly.
Addressing the seminar, Professor Dr. Hafeezur Rehman said that Eid-Al Azha is not merely a celebration but a divine command that symbolizes submission to Allah's will. 'It is an act that teaches the Muslim Ummah the essence of obedience and surrender,' he stated.
Highlighting Alkhidmat Foundation's annual Qurbani operations, Prof. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman informed the audience that the organisation distributes sacrificial meat to hundreds of thousands of deserving families each year. 'We establish Qurbani centres in various cities where central, regional, district and local teams, along with Alkhidmat staff and volunteers, coordinate the entire process,' he added. Last year, the Alkhidmat Foundation successfully sacrificed 5,808 large and 2,835 small animals, in Pakistan and Gaza ensuring meat reached to thousands of deserving people, 'A significant number of Pakistani's live below the poverty line. For many, Eid-Al Azha is the only time of year they are able to consume meat,' he noted. Dr. Hafeezur Rehman further emphasized the responsibility shouldered by every individual associated with Alkhidmat's Qurbani project. 'When people entrust their religious duty to Alkhidmat, we strive to deliver it with utmost integrity and excellence. We aim for continuous improvement in ou r processes every year.'
He revealed that Alkhidmat is also conducting Qurbani in Gaza this year. 'In Egypt, we are sacrificing 1,000 cows for the people of Gaza. Fresh meat will be immediately delivered to refugees, and professionally packed tinned meat with a shelf life of two years will be prepared and sent into Gaza as soon as the borders open,' he explained. 'Pakistan ranks second among the countries sending relief aid to Gaza.'
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Community Services and Central Vice President Alkhidmat, Zikrullah Mujahid, stated that the organisation ensures high-quality standards in both the sacrificial process and meat distribution. 'All health and hygiene protocols are strictly followed, and over 100,000 volunteers across Pakistan help deliver meat to deserving families,' he said.
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Central Punjab, Javed Kasuri, delivered a detailed address on the religious importance of Qurbani in the light of the Quran and Sunnah.
Other speakers included Dr. Kashif Noman from the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Additional Director (Retd) Dr Zubair Bari, and Muhammad Nawaz Dogar, among others. The seminar proceedings were moderated by Alkhidmat's Senior Manager Media Relations, Shoaib Hashmi.
