Karachi: Alkhidmat Karachi has inaugurated its 76th Water Filtration Plant along with a modern Water ADM (Automated Water Dispensing Machine) under its WASH Programme at Al Hilal Society, Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The project will not only provide residents with safe drinking water but also ensure 24/7 access through the newly installed Water ADM system.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Rashid Qureshi, Executive Director of Alkhidmat Karachi. Among those present were Zeeshan Akhtar, Chairman of Al Hilal Society; Rizwan Abdul Samie, Chairman of Jinnah Town; Gohar-ul-Islam, Director of the WASH Programme; Saleem Umar Kapadia, Chairman UC-7 Bahadurabad; Saad Akbar, Manager WASH Programme; along with a large number of community members and distinguished guests.
Following the inauguration, Rashid Qureshi, accompanied by the guests, inspected the Water Filtration Plant and the Water ADM facility and expressed satisfaction over the quality and functionality of the project.
Addressing the ceremony, Rashid Qureshi said
that Alkhidmat aims to establish a network of clean drinking water plants across Karachi, as access to safe drinking water is one of the city’s most fundamental needs. He stated that Alkhidmat has already completed 1,200 boreholes in different parts of Karachi, particularly in areas where access to clean water was critically needed.He said that this is Alkhidmat’s 76th Water Filtration Plant, installed in collaboration with Al Hilal Society, where the demand for clean drinking water was particularly high.
Rashid Qureshi further stated that most of these filtration plants have been established with the support of generous donors. He appealed to philanthropists to continue supporting Alkhidmat’s mission so that more communities across Karachi can benefit from safe drinking water.
Highlighting the importance of the Water ADM system, he explained that its purpose is to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water. Even if the filtration plant is temporarily shut down for maintenance, residents will still be
able to obtain clean water by simply scanning their access cards.
Chairman of Al Hilal Society, Zeeshan Akhtar, appreciated Alkhidmat’s efforts and congratulated the residents on the installation of both the Water Filtration Plant and the Water ADM system. He also assured Alkhidmat of his continued cooperation.
Chairman of Jinnah Town, Rizwan Abdul Samie, described the project as a valuable gift for the residents of Al Hilal Society. He said that Alkhidmat has been serving humanity for decades and that providing clean drinking water is among the most significant public welfare initiatives. He added that contaminated water is a major cause of diseases and poses serious risks to public health. Therefore, raising awareness about the importance of clean drinking water is essential, and Alkhidmat is playing an important role in this regard. He also appreciated Alkhidmat’s vision to expand access to clean water throughout Karachi and encouraged philanthropists to support this noble cause.
Speaking on the occasio
n, Gohar-ul-Islam, Director of Alkhidmat’s WASH Programme, said that Water ADM units have so far been installed at six locations across Karachi. He explained that the system has been designed and developed by Alkhidmat itself to ensure an uninterrupted water supply and allow people to obtain clean drinking water conveniently without assistance. He added that, God willing, Alkhidmat will continue expanding this innovative initiative to serve even more communities across the city.
