Karachi: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Monem Zafar Khan has said that Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan is currently supporting 32,000 orphaned and underprivileged children across the country. In Karachi, under the Alkhidmat Orphan Care Program, 2,500 children are being facilitated with Eid shopping at a local shopping mall.Speaking to the media on the third day of Eid shopping at a mall in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, he stated that each child has been given Rs 6,000 for Eid shopping along with Rs500 as Eidi. The children were accompanied by their mothers or guardians so they could fully participate in the joy of Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.Monem Zafar Khan said that Alkhidmat was actively serving in various sectors including education, healthcare, and clean water. He also mentioned that February 25 marks the death anniversary of former City Nazim Niamatullah Khan, paying tribute to his outstanding public and welfare services. He described Niamatullah Khan as a symbol of integrity and service, adding that his efforts helped establish Alkhidmat's recognition on global.On the occasion, Alkhidmat Executive Director Rashid Qureshi, Director Orphan Care Program Yousuf Mohiuddin, other officials, and a large number of students from schools, colleges, and universities participated as volunteers.Monem Zafar Khan also toured the shopping mall, interacted with the children about their purchases, and expressed affection and encouragement toward them.He said that Alkhidmat organizes Eid shopping for orphaned children every year. These children are registered under the Orphan Care Program and have been receiving monthly financial support at their homes for years. Alongside child sponsorship, the organization also arranges training programs for their mothers.He further shared that Alkhidmat operates 24 Aghosh Homes across Pakistan. In Karachi, a boys' Aghosh Home is located in Gulshan-e-Maymar, while a girls' facility is established in PECHS, where children are provided with modern boarding facilities and quality education.Gr aduates of the program have gone on to become doctors, engineers, and professionals serving the nation. Children residing in Aghosh Homes will also be facilitated with Eid shopping.Highlighting the situation in Palestine, he said that while celebrating local children, the plight of Palestinian children must not be forgotten. Referring to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, he said that tens of thousands, including a large number of women and children, have been martyred. He reaffirmed solidarity with the people of Gaza, stating that Alkhidmat has sent significant humanitarian aid via sea and air routes and continues to do so. He urged the people of Pakistan to remember Gaza during these difficult times.On the occasion, he thanked the shopping mall administration and appreciated the efforts of the Alkhidmat Orphan Care team and volunteers for their dedicated service in spreading happiness among deserving families.
