Islamabad: Altaf Ahmed Bhat, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM), has vehemently condemned the brutal and unprovoked missile attacks by Indian forces on the night of May 6-7, 2025. The aggression, which targeted civilian areas across Pakistan, resulted in the martyrdom of 40 innocent civilians - including 7 women and 15 children - and claimed the lives of 11 brave members of the Pakistan Armed Forces. More than 121 civilians, many of them women and children, were injured, along with 78 military personnel who valiantly stood in defense of the motherland.The scale of devastation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) is deeply alarming. According to official reports, 528 residential houses were destroyed by Indian shelling, along with 26 shops that supported local livelihoods. Over 1,226 families have been internally displaced and moved to temporary relief camps, having lost not just shelter but years of hard work and stability.In his heartfelt statement, Altaf Ahmed Bhat extended profound condolences to the grieving families and prayed for swift healing for the injured. 'There is no pain deeper than losing your children, your loved ones, or the roof over your head in a matter of minutes,' he said. 'The martyrs of this aggression - both civilians and armed forces - have become the pride of our nation. Their sacrifices are etched forever in our collective memory.'Altaf Ahmed Bhat also stood in solidarity with the families who have been left homeless and devastated. 'To every family torn apart, to every child sleeping in a relief camp tonight - your pain is our pain. May Allah give you strength and healing. We will stand by you until every home is rebuilt, and every life restored,' he pledged.He lauded the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir for announcing a Rs1 billion relief fund to assist victims of Indian aggression. 'This swift and compassionate response by the AJK government is not just timely - it's a lifeline. In times of darkness, such support brings hope and healing to those who ne ed it most,' Bhat noted.He further praised the Pakistan Armed Forces for their disciplined and effective response under Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, stating: 'The resolute retaliation by our forces sent a clear message - that Pakistan's dignity, sovereignty, and security are not negotiable.'Calling upon the global conscience, Altaf Ahmed Bhat urged the international community, United Nations, and human rights watchdogs to break their silence. 'If the deaths of children, the destruction of entire communities, and the displacement of over a thousand families are not enough to move the world, then we must ask - when will it be?'The recent victory of Pakistan has uplifted the morale of the oppressed yet courageous people of Indian-occupied Kashmir. Following the unilateral, unethical, and politically motivated actions of August 5, 2019, the Indian regime and its military made every possible attempt to suppress the voices of the Kashmiri people. Their tongues were metaphorically locked, and their hopes dimmed . However, this historic triumph by the Pakistan Army has once again reignited their faith - in the Pakistani military, leadership, and the people of Pakistan.Now, it is imperative for Pakistan to take practical steps and accelerate efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue. Altaf Ahmed Bhat has urged the leadership of Pakistan to ensure that Kashmir remains the central focus in any future dialogue between India and Pakistan. He also conveyed a clear message to Donald Trump, stating that unless the Kashmir dispute is resolved in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and the relevant international resolutions, the shadow of war will continue to loom over this region.
