Ambassador Misbah Khar reiterates Pak’s appreciation of Russia’s active role in parliamentary diplomacy

Islamabad: Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Ambassador to the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC) has reiterated Pakistan's appreciation of Russia's active role in parliamentary diplomacy.

A delegation from the Russian Federation, including Anton Berniakovich, Head of the Political Station, and Anton Verschagin, held an official meeting with Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Ambassador to the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC) along with Senior DG Protocol, Senate of Pakistan.

The meeting was convened to discuss key preparations for the upcoming ISC, focusing on the comprehensive program structure, hospitality arrangements, and security measures being implemented to ensure a successful and smooth event. Khar provided a detailed briefing on the standards being followed, emphasizing that all arrangements have been designed in line with international protocols.

It was confirmed during the meeting that the Russian Federation has confirmed participation from both the Houses. The dignitaries also exchanged views on the broader participation of other countries and the representation expected from various national parliaments.

Khar stated that October 30 is the final deadline for confirmation of participation from member states. 'Once confirmations are finalized, we will have a more complete picture of the international parliamentary representation,' she said.

Highlighting the importance of bilateral relations, Khar reiterated Pakistan's appreciation of Russia's active role in parliamentary diplomacy. 'Russia is a valued member state, and we wholeheartedly welcome the Russian parliamentary delegation. We look forward to further strengthening our inter-parliamentary relations through mutual cooperation and engagement,' she added.

The meeting marks a positive step forward in ensuring strong international participation and collaboration at the upcoming ISC, described as 'first and unique in its nature', gaining strong international momentum. The foremost agenda items include faith, interfaith harmony, and addressing the challenge of climate change aiming to promote dialogue and unity among parliamentary institutions across the globe.
