Lahore: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that meaningful change cannot be achieved through spontaneous crowds but requires a disciplined and organised struggle, as he called on JI workers to carry forward the mission of late former Secretary General Ameerul Azeem and intensify efforts for a just and corruption-free system in the country.
Addressing a Quran lesson and prayer gathering held at Jamia Masjid Mansoorah in memory of Ameerul Azeem, the JI chief said the struggle for the establishment of Islamic system was a responsibility shared by all believers and that Jamaat-e-Islami would continue its resistance against oppression, corruption and forces seeking to impose their own authority in place of divine guidance. 'Revolution is not brought about by a crowd, it is achieved through organised strength,' Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said, adding that the struggle would continue until the last breath.
Paying tribute to late Azeem, he described him as a man of hope and conviction who remained optimistic about the future of the Islamic movement. He said the late leader was a model of discipline and obedience within the JI organisation and despite holding senior positions, never sought personal prominence.
Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said Ameerul Azeem had served the Islamic movement from his days in the student movement through various key responsibilities in Jamaat-e-Islami. His humility, commitment to helping others and dedication to the cause of establishing Deen, he added, had made his life an example for every JI worker.
The JI emir said Ameerul Azeem had also remained steadfast during the country's prolonged struggle against martial law. Even while battling illness, he faced his condition with courage and patience and never lost hope. Ameerul Azeem believed that Jamaat-e-Islami had entered a new phase in its struggle, a phase that demanded a vigorous public movement, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said. He urged JI workers to take forward the late leader's mission and step up the struggle against the forces of evil and corruption while working for a system founded on truth, justice and accountability.

A large number of people representing diff erent walks of life also attended the prayer gathering.
