JKDFP strongly condemns mass arrests of Kashmiri youth and demolition of civilian homes in IOJK

Srinagar: Advocate Arshad Iqbal, Spokesman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (JKDFP), has strongly condemned the large-scale crackdown carried out by Indian occupation forces across Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir over the past two days. He said that the reported detention of nearly 3,000 Kashmiri youth, accompanied by widespread raids and the demolition of several residential houses, constitutes a blatant form of collective punishment and a grave violation of international human rights and humanitarian law.Advocate Arshad Iqbal stated that these coercive measures are aimed at intimidating the Kashmiri people, suppressing their legitimate political aspirations, and crushing their internationally recognized right to self-determination through the use of force. Arbitrary detentions of innocent youth, destruction of civilian homes, and indiscriminate targeting of the civilian population have no place in any democratic society governed by the rule of law.Advocate Arshad Iqbal also expressed deep concern over the continued plight of Kashmiri political leaders and activists who remain incarcerated in various Indian prisons. He said that many detainees have been deprived of adequate medical care, fair legal safeguards, and other fundamental rights guaranteed under international human rights standards. The continued detention of political prisoners, particularly those suffering from serious health conditions, demands urgent international attention. The JKDFP spokesman urged the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the European Union, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), international human rights organizations, and the wider international community to take immediate notice of the worsening human rights situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He called for an independent international investigation into the recent mass arrests and demolition of civilian homes and appealed for effective intervention to ensure the protection of all Kashmiri political p risoners and their fundamental human rights.Advocate Arshad Iqbal emphasized that the continued silence of the international community only emboldens such repressive actions and deepens the suffering of the Kashmiri people. He stressed that the time has come for the international community to fulfill its legal and moral responsibilities by taking practical steps to protect human rights, uphold justice, and support a peaceful and lasting resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of its people.
