APM Terminals and Pakistan Commerce Ministry Pave Way for Potential Collaborations

ISLAMABAD: Keith Svendsen, CEO of APM Terminals, accompanied by Jakob Linulf, Danish Ambassador to Pakistan, met with Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan to discuss prospective opportunities for APM Terminals in Pakistan.Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted Pakistan's interest in land trade and logistics, particularly emphasizing the transportation of goods as a priority investment area.The minister elaborated on Pakistan's multi-modal connectivity, including land-to-sea and sea-to-land routes, and its proximity to key regional ports and economies.He encouraged investment from Maersk and other Danish organizations in Pakistan's logistics and shipping sectors, stressing the potential for cross-border transit trade with Central Asian countries.Svendsen conveyed his gratitude to Minister Jam Kamal Khan for Pakistan's steadfast support towards A.P. Molter Maersk, following a meeting with Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.He said I met Honourable Prime Minister, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif today and expressed his gratitude for the unwavering support extended by Pakistan's Government towards A.P. Molter - Maersk.He said we discussed Pakistan's emerging economy, rising trade in and out of the country, the challenges faced within the logistics sectors, and the opportunities to explore the country's growth potential.Keith said, "Pakistan is a strategically important market for us with its strong appetite for growth and for the role the country plays in global trade.It was an honour to interact with Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and talk about potential opportunities for APM Terminals to play a role in the country's developing infrastructure and growing trade.Svendsen emphasized Pakistan's strategic importance in global trade and expressed eagerness to contribute to its development.Discussions centered around Pakistan's burgeoning economy, burgeoning trade volumes, logistical challenges, and avenues for growth.Both parties agreed to exchange proposals and frameworks to further explore in vestment opportunities in Pakistan, signaling a promising step towards potential collaborations between APM Terminals and the Pakistan Commerce Ministry.
