Askari tower siege, arson case: Former governor Punjab Umar Sarfraz Cheema files bail plea

Lahore: Former governor Punjab and PTI leader Umar Sarfaraz Cheema has filed bail plea in Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore in Askari Tower siege and arson case.Umar Sarfaraz Cheema has filed bail plea through his counsel.The petitioner has taken plea he is not involved in Askari Tower siege and arson case and he has been nominated in the case on political basis.He requested the court to accept his bail plea and order for his release.It is pertinent to mention here that PTI had staged country wide protest following Imran Khan arrest in Al-Qadir Trust case on May 9 from premises of Islamabad High Court (IHC). During the protest civil and military and private installations were torched and immense damage was caused to public and state properties. At least 8 persons were killed and 290 persons were injured during the protest.
