Lahore: Hearing of defamation suit of Rs 10 billion filed by Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif against PTI founder Imran Khan was held in Sessions Court Lahore Tuesday.
Information minister Atta Ullah Tarar appeared in the court and recorded his statement as witness.
Atta Ullah Tarar appeared before additional sessions judge Yalmaz Ghani.
While recording his statement in the court during the hearing of the case Atta Ullah Tarar said the plaintiff belongs to a respectable family. The entire world is aware of political and social services of the plaintiff.
He said the plaintiff started his political career as member of Provincial Assembly in 1988. The plaintiff Shehbaz Sharif was elected members of national assembly and provincial assembly in 1990. The plaintiff Shehbaz Sharif was appointed as opposition leader in 1993. He was elected as Chief Minister (CM) Punjab in 1997 with overwhelming majority.
While expressing confidence on Shehbaz Sharif once again people of Punjab elected him as CM Punjab in 2008.
Atta Ullah Tarar said Shehbaz Sharif once again was elected as member of national and provincial assemblies in 2013. He was elected CM Punjab once again. Secretary Punjab Assembly (PA) issued formal notification in this regard.
Atta Ullah Tarar presented verified record of Election Commission in the court.
The counsel for PTI founder raised objection over the record presented by Atta Ullah Tarar saying please note my objection. Atta Ullah Tarar cannot present irrelevant documents in the court.
