Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has reiterated government's commitment to providing full support and protection to journalists in the fulfillment of their professional duties.

Attaullah Tarar was talking to a delegation comprising representatives of the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ), Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ), and the Parliamentary Reporters Association in Islamabad on Wednesday.

Expressing concern over the incident involving RIUJ President Tariq Virk, the Minister said that resolving the matter is his personal responsibility.

He assured that the dignity, freedom, and professional protection of journalists will be upheld at all levels.

Attaullah Tarar emphasized that the government considers independent media a cornerstone of societal progress and remains steadfast in its defense. Principal Information Officer Mubashir Hassan and others were also present during the meeting.
