Lahore: Awarding contract of Lahore Zoo to private company has been challenged in Lahore High Court (LHC)

The petition has been filed by judicial activism panel through Azhar Siddique advocate.

Punjab government, wild life department and forest department have been made respondents in the petition.

The petitioner has taken the plea a large number of citizens come to zoo for information and recreation.

Zoo was handed over to private company without any legal justification.

The petitioner further took the plea private company is extorting money from the pockets of citizens who are coming to zoo.

In addition to parking and entry fee, the tickets for swings have shot to sky.

People are worried over lack of look after of animals in zoo.

The petitioner requested that the court should issue order for taking back zoo from private administration.

The court should also order for charging additional fee in zoo.
