Islamabad: Defence minister Khawaja Asif has disclosed Gen (Retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa had given threats in connection with extension in his service saying he would take over.

In an interview with private TV channel Khawaja Asif said during the appointment of new army chief in 2022 Gen (Retd) Bajwa resisted for 8 to 9 days and threatened he should be given extension.

He held Faiz Hameed could do nothing without Gen (Retd) Bajwa.

The army never challenged civilian government authority in the past the way he challenged. .

He stated Bajwa tried first that Faiz Hameed becomes army chief.
