President accords approval to general election in GB on Jan 24

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari has given approval to hold general election in Gilgit-Baltistan (G.B) on January 24.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) GB Raja Shehbaz Khan had sent recommendations to president Asif Ali Zardari to hold election within 60 days as per constitution.

GB assembly has been dissolved and Yar Muhammad Nasir has been appointed as caretaker chief minister.

It is pertinent to mention here GB assembly was dissolved last month on completion of five years constitutional term.

Prime Minister as chairman GB council accorded approval to appoint Justice (Retd) Yar Muhammad Nasair as care taker chief minister.

Cabinet division has issued notification of appointment of care taker chief minister.
