Quetta: The Balochistan government has established a state-of-the-art Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center in Quetta, aimed at enhancing coordination among police, Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), intelligence agencies, and civil administration.

Additional Chief Secretary Home Balochistan, Muhammad Hamza Shafqat, announced the establishment of the center through a post on social media platform X. He said the facility provides a unified platform for real-time information exchange and joint analysis, strengthening early warning and preventive measures against terrorism, financial support for terrorists, drug smuggling, and organized crime. The center also enables coordinated action against illegal spectrum usage and unregulated communication networks.

'The information that was previously scattered is now shared and acted upon in real time, allowing the state to prevent incidents rather than merely respond to them,' Shafqat added.

Balochistan has faced long-standing militancy, with insurgent groups operating across various districts. According to provincial government data, in 2025, law enforcement and military operations based on intelligence resulted in 78,000 anti-terrorism operations, in which 707 terrorists were killed, 202 security personnel lost their lives, and 280 civilians were killed.

The provincial government is also taking administrative measures to curb extremism, including the recent establishment of PIFTAC (Provincial Intelligence Fusion and Threat Assessment Center), which will be operational in all districts by March 2026. Entire regions of the province have recently been reclassified as 'A Areas' to improve administrative control.
