Bangladesh election results: BNP wins 209 seats, Jamaat 68: Election Commission

Dhaka: Security personnel guards were present near the chairman office of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) before the national parliamentary election result is announced in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Tarique Rahman's Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has won 209 out of 297 seats announced by the Election Commission so far, according to unofficial results, which give Jamaat-e-Islami 68 seats.

Jamaat, which is yet to concede defeat, says it is not 'satisfied' with the vote count and is raising 'serious questions about the integrity of the results process'.

Official results have not yet been announced by the Bangladesh Election Commission (EC).

A referendum was also held on political reforms, including prime ministerial term limits, stronger checks on executive power and other safeguards preventing parliamentary power consolidation.
