Bara: The Bara Political Alliance concluded an important jirga today in Bara, called at the request of Tirah's tribal elders and representatives, to devise a roadmap for addressing the fallout from provincial government mismanagement.
The jirga strongly criticized the provincial administration for mismanagement in Tirah and highlighted corruption and political interference in the distribution of PKR 400 crore to affected families. Members of the jirga also paid tribute to security forces for their role in maintaining peace.
The agenda of the national jirga was presented by former Bara Political Alliance Chairman Haji Shireen Afridi. The alliance expressed full solidarity, empathy, and support with all families displaced from Tirah.
Haji Shireen Afridi said, 'We held two previous jirgas with the Khawaarij, after which we handed over responsibility to the provincial government and Tirah elders, but both efforts failed.' The alliance emphasized, 'The issues of Tirah's affected people are not confined to any single area or tribe but represent a collective national problem that cannot endure further delay.'
The Bara Political Alliance issued a unanimous declaration demanding immediate action, including:
Restoration of full peace in Tirah and guarantees for sustainable security.
Immediate cessation of firing, shelling, mortar attacks, and quadcopter operations by Khawaarij, which spread fear among civilians.
Ensuring the dignified return of Tirah's displaced families and honoring all promises and agreements in writing and practice.
Neutral investigations into political interference, nepotism, administrative incompetence, and corruption in the registration process of affected families, with accountability for responsible parties.
Registration and IDP status for all residents owning property in Tirah and inclusion in relief packages.
Emergency measures to control law and order in Upper Bara and Bara plain areas.
Launch of a peace campaign in Bara to provide a secure environment for citizens.
Provincial government to fulfill its constitutional responsibility to stop kidnappings, extortion threats, and intimidation by Khawaarij and ensure citizen protection.
The alliance reaffirmed its commitment to stand with Tirah's affected people at every forum and continue its struggle until their rights are fully secured.
