Karachi: Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has submitted before the Sindh High Court that the Bay View private school has been established on amenity plot of Kathiawar Society, Adamjee Nagar, Karachi without any permission or approval by the authority.

As per details, a division bench of Justice Yousuf Ali Sayeed and Justice Abdul Hameed Bhurgri on Thursday heard the constitutional petition (CP-D1082/ 2025) of Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman Altaf Shakoor through his lawyer Khuram Lakhani against constructing a school on an amenity plot SNPA: No-40 allocated for a diagnostic centre and renting it to BayView Junior School for Rs50000 per month with a rent raise of 10 percent monthly that is a clear proof of commercial activity.

On Thursday's hearing, the KDA and SBCA filed their respective replies. The KDA in its reply said that it has nothing to do with the said plot or matter.

However, the SBCA in its reply submitted that the plot in question is an amenity plot where upon the said educational School was established without any permission/approval of the Authority.

It further submitted that after perusal of available record it is revealed that no any kind of approval in respect of subject School "BAY VIEW SCHOOL" has been obtained from this Authority (SBCA). The court has adjourned the further hearing of the case till September 29.

PDP lawyer Khuram Lakhani later told media outside the court premises that the SBCA has now admitted before the court that the said plot is given to school on rent which is commercialisation of amenity plot without permission or approval. He said they would continue to fight their case as commercial activities on amenity plots are illegal.
