Lahore: During hearing of smog eradication case, Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court (LHC) has sought detailed report from Advocate General (AG) on Punjab government Yellow train project till August 01.
The court has directed DG WASA to appear in person in connection with details of construction work.
Justice Shahid Karim remarked billions of rupees were wasted on Multan Metro bus project. E-Bikes are being used where or they are standing in homes only.
The court sought plan with reference to motorcycles and heavy traffic from Environment department.
The court ordered WASA to complete all under construction work till Friday otherwise proceedings will be initiated.
The court issued directives to NIPA to complete renovation work within a month for restoration of service roads of Jail road, Mall road and MM Alam road.
The court remarked during hearing of the case billion of rupees were wasted on Multan Metro bus project. It is hoped government will demonstrate special sensitivity on Canal road project. Follow up is the responsibility of government. Court cannot monitor all the time. Government has formed a major force for traffic monitoring. But what it is doing practically. What E-Bike were acquired are being used where or they are parked in homes only.
Counsel for Environment department told the court policy is being worked out in this regard which will soon be shared with Judicial Water Commission and court.
Counsel for WASA took the plea work of WASA has been completed and now construction of road is responsibility of NIPA and LDA.
However member of Judicial Water Commission said that work of WASA has not been completed so far and it is still underway.
