Lahore: A division bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected intra court appeals of project employees of Social Welfare and Baitul Mall department for their regularization .

Division bench comprised justice Asim Hafeez and Justice Khalid Ishaq.

Employees of Panahgahs (shelters) and Aafiat old age home resorted to high court for their regularization.

Single bench of high court had rejected their petitions for regularization of service.

Assistant Advocate General (AAG) Usman Khan while opposing the appeals said there is difference between project and contract employees. Contract employees can be regularized but project employees can not be regularized. Equal treatment cannot be meted out to contract and project employees.

AAG Usman Khan said Punjab government has spelt out a clear policy to regularize employees. Court cannot interfere in policy matters of government.
