Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that Indian forces, in a fresh arrest spree, have detained more than two dozen youth in Srinagar and other areas of the Kashmir Valley, aimed at terrorising freedom and peace-loving Kashmiris in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir .

According to media reports, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement issued in Srinagar said draconian laws such as the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Public Safety Act (PSA) and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) are being employed to suppress Kashmiris' legitimate demand for a plebiscite, leading to killings and arbitrary detentions in the occupied territory.

He condemned the statement of Indian Home Minister Amit Shah made during a review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi yesterday, in which he claimed that 'under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government is committed to establishing lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir and completely eliminating terrorism.'
