Dhaka: Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has unveiled its election manifesto for the 13th National Assembly elections to be held in 2026. The manifesto was announced by Ameer-e-Jamaat Dr. Shafiqur Rahman at a hotel in the capital, Dhaka. On this occasion, the manifesto was titled the 'People's Manifesto.'
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that this manifesto does not belong to any single political party but to the country's 180 million people. He stated that building a safe, justice-based, and humane Bangladesh for farmers, laborers, teachers, students, women, traders, and the working class is the fundamental objective of Jamaat-e-Islami.
He said that the country does not suffer from a lack of resources; rather, it lacks integrity, accountability, and patriotism. Emphasizing the role of youth, the Ameer-e-Jamaat said that the honesty and passion demonstrated by young people during the July 24 movement showed their potential, and Jamaat-e-Islami aims to empower them and bring them forward into state leadership.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman made it clear that upon coming to power, Jamaat-e-Islami will establish a safe and dignified society for women, children, farmers, laborers, and all segments of society. He announced that interest-free loans will be provided to farmers at the beginning of the cropping season, while dignified employment opportunities will be ensured for workers and an economy free from exploitation will be established.
He said that Jamaat-e-Islami's economic vision is to provide a business- and investment-friendly environment and to rid the country of corruption and extortion. He added that they would neither engage in corruption themselves nor allow anyone else to do so.
The manifesto includes 26 priority points for the upcoming five-year term of government. These include safeguarding national sovereignty, ensuring social justice, empowering youth and women, holding transparent elections, eliminating corruption, establishing a modern system of education and healthcare, creating employment opportunities, implementing agricultural reforms, protecting the environment, and building a welfare state.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the manifesto is based on the opinions of various segments of society. More than 250 experts were involved in its preparation, and the views of nearly 40,000 people were also given importance.
The ceremony was attended by Jamaat-e-Islami Naib Ameer Shamsul Islam, Secretary General Mian Ghulam Parwar, central and city leadership, leaders of various political parties, senior journalists, intellectuals, representatives of civil society, and ambassadors and diplomatic officials from different countries.
