Case registered against Iltija Mufti for sharing a video clip of Syed Ali Shah Geelani

Srinagar: In Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in yet another attack on the right to freedom of expression, Indian police have registered a case against Iltija Mufti, head of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing, for uploading a video clip of veteran martyred leader Syed Ali Geelani (Shaheed) on social media.The video clip of Syed Ali Geelani was about the importance and usefulness of the Urdu language, which the BJP's Hindutva-driven Indian government is allegedly determined to eliminate. The video clip uploaded by Iltija Mufti surfaced yesterday, after which a case was registered against her.The occupying Indian authorities stated that several other individuals have also been named in the FIR who shared the video clip. In the clip, Syed Ali Geelani can be heard saying that India is trying to deprive their youth of the Urdu language.He said that all their religious literature is in Urdu, whether in Pakistan, India, or Jammu and Kashmir-across the entire region, religious material exists in U rdu. If they are deprived of the Urdu language, it would mean being deprived of their religious literature, he saidHe further said that this is India's plan, and therefore, people should themselves make an effort to learn Urdu. Children studying in English-medium schools should also be taught Urdu at home.
