Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, chaired a meeting on Wednesday at the CDA Headquarters regarding potential water and sewerage projects under the Islamabad Water Agency. The meeting was attended by CDA Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, DG Islamabad Water, the DG PandCA, a delegation from the IFC, representatives from P3A and other officers.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the CDA is also paying special attention to adopting modern and sustainable solutions to provide clean and safe water to the citizens of Islamabad. He said they want to start practical work soon on improving the sewerage system and clean water projects in Islamabad.

The meeting was informed that comprehensive measures are being taken to equip the Islamabad Water Agency with modern facilities, experts, technical support and modern technology. The meeting discussed various projects to modernize the water system. Detailed discussions were held on different projects to prevent water loss and eliminate line losses. Similarly, numerous measures for preventing water wastage, its wise use, and conservation were also discussed in detail.

The meeting held a detailed discussion on the water metering project. It was decided in the meeting that a consultant would be hired for this project.

Similarly, the meeting also discussed shifting of all electrical installations, including tube wells, to a solar system in Islamabad and installation of modern energy-efficient pumps on tube wells which will lead to significant savings in electricity consumption.

Chairman CDA said that the technical capabilities and extensive experience of the IFC will be fully utilized. He further said that water is not only a basic necessity but is also extremely important for the survival of every sphere of life and we must understand our responsibility and value every drop of water to avoid challenges like water scarcity in the future.
