Chairman Senate Gilani Extends Christmas Greetings to Christian Community Worldwide

Islamabad: Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has extended heartfelt greetings to the Christian community in Pakistan and around the world on the occasion of Christmas. He described Christmas as a festival of peace, love, and brotherhood.

Gilani emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony, urging respect for all religious beliefs and traditions. He said that embracing tolerance and peaceful coexistence is essential for sustainable progress and prosperity.

Highlighting Pakistan's commitment to religious freedom, he recalled that during his tenure as Prime Minister, a ministry for minority affairs was established and minorities were given representation in the federal cabinet to ensure effective participation in governance.

The Chairman Senate acknowledged the contributions of minority communities to Pakistan's development, stability, and prosperity. He noted that the Upper House has passed significant legislation to safeguard minority rights and provide necessary facilities and relief, reflecting an inclusive democratic system.

Gilani expressed optimism about the Christian community's continued role in promoting national progress and appreciated the Senate's initiatives to protect minority rights and foster interfaith harmony. He also mentioned the establishment of the Parliamentary Committee on Minority Caucus to address minority issues.

He concluded by stating that Pakistan's rich religious and cultural heritage is being preserved as a symbol of national unity and a harmonious society.
