It was not an accident, it was not collateral damage, it was a deliberate act of cultural destruction against the people who refuse to submit.According to the report, born in 1377, Sheikh Noor-ud-Din Noorani, known as Nund Rishi and the Alamdar-e-Kashmir, his verses in Kashmiri nourished generations, his shrine, built in the 15th century under Zain-ul-Abidin, was the flag-bearer of Kashmir's distinct id entity, a place where his message of resistance to operation and devotion to truth had echoed through six centuries of time.According to the report, in May 1995, Indian-occupation-forces besieged the town for 66 days, cut off water and power, drove residents from their homes, and then set it ablaze. By dawn on 11 May, the shrine, the mosque, and over a thousand homes and shops had been reduced to ash. Civilians were killed. No one was held to account.According to the report, the Indian-regime claimed it was the resistance fighters who started the fire. Kashmir knows the truth. You do not besiege a town for 66 days and shell it through the night by accident. The report says, the Indian-occupation-forces, who have never belonged to this land, did not hesitate to torch it. When they cou ld not crush the resistance through brute force alone, they attacked the very symbols that give Kashmiris their strength. People took to the streets chanting: "Chara bani hani hani, Mast Gul Kati bani" - Chrar will be rebuilt somehow, but where shall we find resistance fighters like Mast Gul again! The Indian-regime had sought to extinguish a flame. Instead, it fanned it into something far greater.The report says years later, Charar was rebuilt in concrete.
