Islamabad: As part of stakeholders' engagement, delegations from the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association, Tehsil Bar Association Kabal (Swat), and Mohmand Bar Association, Mohmand District, called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Khan Afridi at the Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday.

The delegations were engaged on reform interventions with focus on citizen-centric justice. Representatives of the Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association briefed the Chief Justice on their welfare initiatives, including creation of welfare fund for medical assistance and educational support for the families of deceased lawyers. The Chief Justice appreciated the initiative and commended the Bar for ensuring transparency and social responsibility.

Delegations from Tehsil Bar Association Kabal and Mohmand Bar Association highlighted the need for capacity-building and facilities such as e-libraries, solarization, and women facilitation centers. In response, the Chief Justice briefed them on the Continuing Legal Education programs of the Federal Judicial Academy and announced that a special one-week training program will be arranged for lawyers from newly merged districts.

The Chief Justice also shared updates on ongoing judicial reforms aimed at improving court infrastructure and access to justice, with completion targeted by August 2026, and emphasized the judiciary's commitment to citizen-centric and sustainable justice delivery.

Meanwhile Chief Justice of Pakistan chaired a series of high-level consultative meetings to review and advance the proposal for establishing an enterprise-level Data Centre at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The proposed facility aims to provide a secure, accessible, sustainable, and cost-effective infrastructure to support judicial digitization, enhance data security, and ensure operational resilience of the Court's information systems.

In the initial phase, in-house consultations were held with the Court's IT Directorate, which proposed the deployment of a Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) solution. This was followed by detailed technical and policy-level discussions with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to seek expert input on scalable, secure, future-ready, and internationally aligned infrastructure options.

Subsequently, a meeting was also held with the Managing Director of the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) to further deliberate on a technically viable, sustainable, and financially prudent solution. It was agreed that a finalized proposal will be prepared for consideration and approval.
