QUETTA: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has reiterated to remove all hurdles in the way of bringing the level of higher education in Pakistan equal to the international standards.
He was chairing a meeting of the vice-chancellors of all the public sector universities of Balochistan in Quetta on Sunday.
The Prime Minister said our youth and human resource are an important asset for the better future of Pakistan. He said multiple opportunities will be provided to youngsters in the field of higher education in Pakistan, enabling them to play an effective role in the development of the country.
Anwaarul Haq Kakar said the lack of innovation is directly linked to the lack of research and higher education in Pakistan. He called for promoting research and new inventions in the universities.
The Prime Minister directed participants of the meeting to undertake effective planning to strengthen the foundations of higher education and modern research in the universities. He said it should be ensured that our graduates have sufficient professional training and skills to meet the requirements of the industries.
He also urged the industrial sector to make incubation centers at the universities to provide students with opportunities for the latest research.
He said such measures would not only provide trained manpower to the country's industries but also pave the way for an industrial revolution in Pakistan. He said consistent provision of quality higher education will improve all spheres of life in Pakistan.
Participants also briefed the Prime Minister about the progress on higher education in Balochistan and the problems being faced in this regard.
Meanwhile Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar has expressed the determination of his government to start the industrial revolution in Balochistan during its short period.
He was talking to a delegation of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce in the provincial capital of Balochistan on Sunday. The delegation comprised important business personalities of the province.
The Prime Minister said Balochistan is not only the largest province in terms of area in Pakistan, but it is an extremely suitable area for trade due to its two neighboring countries and Gwadar port.
He said Balochistan should be the center of industries in view of its abundant mineral deposits and vast agricultural land. He said efforts will be made to ensure that Balochistan is benefiting more from the recently established Special Investment Facilitation Council.
The delegation informed the Prime Minister about the problems faced by the business community in Balochistan. The Prime Minister assured to address these issues.
Meanwhile Anwaarul Haq Kakar has vowed to utilize all available resources for development of Balochistan. Talking to tribal elders in Quetta, he expressed government's resolve to develop infrastructure and provide all resources including electricity and water in the province to ensure its vibrant role in national economy.
The Prime Minister said government will take steps on priority basis for bolstering Foreign Direct Investment, provision of the employment opportunities and for the progress of agriculture and industrial sectors of the Balochistan.
Terming the progress of Balochistan as inevitable for the overall progress of country, Anwaarul Haq Kakar expressed resolve to provide equal opportunities to the youth of province.
Speaking on the occasion, the tribal elders extended felicitations to Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar for assuming the office of Caretaker Prime Minister and expressed good wishes.
Meanwhile a delegation from Balochistan led by Sahibzada Muhammad Khan called on Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar in Quetta on Sunday.
The delegation members congratulated Anwaarul Haq Kakar for assuming office of the interim Prime Minister and expressed best wishes for him.
The apprised the Prime Minister of longstanding problems of the people of Balochistan. The Prime Minister assured the delegation of early resolution of the problems being faced by the people of Balochistan.
