Islamabad: The Federal Constitutional Court of Pakistan has dismissed the appeal filed by former CEO of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zone Company, Javed Iqbal, against his termination, upholding the Peshawar High Court's earlier ruling.

During the hearing on Monday, Justice Rozi Khan remarked that Iqbal's reappointment was conducted in a 'monarchical style,' and emphasized that a competitive selection process should have been followed for reappointment. He noted, 'If you are truly competent, the government can reappoint you.'

The two-member bench, led by Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, heard the appeal challenging the termination. Iqbal's lawyer argued that his reappointment was based on performance and that the government has the discretion to terminate an employee.

After considering the arguments, the court rejected the appeal, maintaining the decision of the Peshawar High Court.
