Islamabad: Leader of the Opposition in the Upper House, Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, has demanded that the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf be provided medical treatment at Shifa Hospital, urging the government to sit with the opposition to resolve prevailing issues.

Speaking on a point of order during the Senate session on Monday, Senator Raja Nasir Abbas said that reports regarding the founder of PTI's eyesight are circulating, indicating that his vision has weakened, which has raised serious concerns. He said the opposition had decided to stage a peaceful protest outside Parliament, but before they could do so, the gates were locked.

He added that senators and members of the National Assembly intended to hold a peaceful sit-in outside Parliament; however, the gates were locked, raising questions about whether preventing parliamentarians from leaving amounts to contempt of Parliament. Journalists were also barred from entering, which he described as a violation of fundamental rights.

The opposition leader said their demand was that the founder of PTI's treatment be carried out with the satisfaction of his family and that his personal doctor be allowed to meet him. He emphasized that the country is currently facing multiple crises and cannot afford further instability, calling for efforts to resolve the political crisis.

Senator Raja Nasir Abbas further stated that the sisters of the founder of PTI are not being allowed to meet him, a matter of grave concern. He demanded that a delegation comprising senators and members of the National Assembly be permitted to meet the founder of PTI.

He added that the next medical injection of the founder of PTI is due in the coming days and that there are concerns worldwide regarding his health. He stressed that their sole demand is that the cases against the founder of PTI be conducted on fair and transparent grounds.
