Contempt of court petition against Maryam Nawaz: tell us how your petition is maintainable: court asks from petitioner

LAHORE: The contempt of court plea against Maryam Nawaz for delivering contemptuous speech against the judiciary came up for hearing before single bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday.

Single bench of LHC led by Justice Shujaat Ali Khan took up the case for hearing.

The court while adjourning the hearing of the case till today (Wednesday) has sought more arguments from the petitioner.

The court inquired during the hearing of the case “ tell us how your petition is maintainable. Tell us how this court has powers to hear this petition. This pertains to the judges of Supreme Court (SC) and you should go there.

The petitioner took the plea the derogatory remarks against the judges of SC were given in packed public meeting.

The court remarked “ you should tell us law that I should issue order under what law.

The petitioner said I have filed contempt of court petition. I have requested to initiate proceedings under this law. Maryam Nawaz has said six contemptuous things.
