Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has acquitted a person convicted and sentenced in power pilferage case by giving him benefit of doubt.
The accused Ghulam Jaffar was awarded sentence of one year and 3 months and fine Rs one lac.
The Chief Justice (CJ) of LHC Aaliya Neelum has issued written order.
According to media report the court approved appeal plea of the accused and acquitted him by giving him benefit of doubt.
According to court's decision there are ambiguities in the story of prosecution. Prosecution is having no proper material.
As per FIR the accused was stealing electricity directly from main cables while prosecution said GEPCO team raided and the accused was caught stealing electricity.
It was further said in the decision team removed the meter on the occasion and gave application for registration of case. Hafiz Abad police registered case of theft of electricity and trial court awarded punishment of one year and three months.
