Mirpurkhas: A local court on Saturday granted a two-day physical remand of four suspects, including the two brothers and two maternal uncles of 17-year-old Anosha, who have been arrested in connection with her alleged murder case in Mirpurkhas.
According to police, the accused-Babar Arain, Bilal Arain, Rizwan and Aqeel-were produced before the Court of the First Additional Sessions Judge by Investigation Officer Inspector Ghazi Khan Rajar in connection with the murder case registered at Satellite Town Police Station.
The court handed over the suspects to police on a two-day physical remand for further investigation and adjourned the hearing until July 27.
Talking to media outside the court, Inspector Ghazi Khan Rajar said the remand had been obtained to facilitate further investigation. He said the accused would be produced before the court again on July 27 after completion of the remand, adding that the investigation was continuing from different angles.
Police said they were informed about the mysterious death of 17-year-old Anosha on July 15. Initially, the family claimed that the girl had died by suicide. However, after the post-mortem report and preliminary forensic evidence revealed clear signs of physical torture on the victim’s body, police declared the case suspicious and registered a murder case.
According to investigators, the findings shifted the focus of the investigation from an alleged suicide to suspected homicide.
