Karachi: The court has ordered civic administration to pay Rs 99 lac as compensation or damage to citizen over death of his wife and infant son due to slipping of motorcycle in Shadman nullah.

Senior civil judge Central city court while announcing decision in favor of aggrieved citizen in the case of death of mother and her two months infant due to falling of motorcycle in Shadman Nullah has ordered Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and District Municipal Corporation (DMC) central to pay over Rs 99 lac against compensation or damage.

The court maintained that the record reflects the incident took place due to negligence of administrative institutions. KMC and DMC central failed in discharging their obligations. Upkeeping sewerage system and protection of citizens was responsibility of these institutions.

Usman Farooq advocate counsel for petitioner Danish this tragic incident took place in July 2022 during moon soon rains. The affected family was riding on motorcycle and the motorcycle slipped into nullah for want of safety measures near rain nullah. Wife of plaintiff and his two months son were killed in this incident.

The counsel informed the court motor cyclist Danish and his one year old daughter were pulled out from the nullah safely while body of Summan wife of Danish was found in nullah and the body of infant could not be found. Later the citizen filed damage claim in the court under fatal accidents act.
