Lahore: Lahore High Court (LHC) has stopped police from harassing former Sikh woman Surjeet Kaur who has solemnized nikkah after embracing Islam.
Justice Farooq Haider of LHC took up for hearing the petition filed by former Sikh woman Surjeet Kaur and her husband Tuesday.
Ahmad Hassan Pasha appeared in the court on behalf of petitioner .
Ahmad Hassan Pasha told the court Indian Sikh lady embraced Islam and solemnized nikkah with Nasir. However police conducted illegal raid on his home on November 8.
According to counsel of the petitioner police pressurized woman to abolish the marriage . The lady embraced Islam and solemnized nikkah out of her free will. Therefore, police have no authority to conduct raid on the house of petitioner. The court should order police for not harassing the petitioners.
The court stopped police from harassing Indian lady.
