Mianwali: As many as 6 terrorists were killed by their own associates during exchange of fire between terrorists and a team of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) near Chapri Dam in Mianwali.

According to CTD spokesperson CTD conducted intelligence based operation to arrest terrorists. During the operation the terrorists opened fire on the CTD team.

The authorities said 6 terrorists were killed in firing by their own associates in exchange of fire while 8 terrorists succeeded in fleeing under the cover of darkness.

The CTD spokesperson said that a suicide vest, three hand grenades, three SMGs, 200 rounds of ammunition, and explosive materials were also recovered from the terrorists.

CTD said the process of identification of slain terrorists was underway. Steps are being taken to arrest the terrorists who succeeded in escaping.

According to spokesperson the terrorists had finalized planning to attack police and other institutions.
