Islamabad: Decision has been taken in principle to allow internet and mobile services in air planes.
PTA has worked out license for in-flight telecommunication Satellite Services.
The draft of the license has been issued for consultation.
As per media reports, the stake holders can present their proposals and recommendations t to PTA till May 31.
Providing telecommunication satellite services in the flight under the license will be allowed under the license.
License holders will be authorized to provide internet and mobile telecommunication services in plane.
Provision of mobile service in air plane is allowed at the altitude of 3000 meters.
The term of license has been fixed for 10 years. The facility for renewal will also be available.
It will be compulsory to obtain license from PTA before commencement of service. License holder will be required to commence service within 12 months.
Data storage and processing has been made compulsory for license holder. Registration of license holder in PSARB will be compulsory.
Spectrum fee is not applicable so far. Review will be possible in future.
