Decision taken to review the security of political leaders, ministers

ISLAMABAD: Decision has been taken to review the security of political leaders in a meeting held here under Prime Minister (PM) Shahbaz Sharif.

The meeting also expressed reservations on the security arrangements by Punjab government in view of firing incident in PTI Long March.

The allied parties condemned the firing incident and demanded no aspect of the matter be ignored. .

According to sources the meeting was attended by members of federal cabinet and leaders of allied parties.

Interior minister gave briefing on the investigation made so far with reference to attack on Imran Khan. Decision was taken to review the security of the political leaders.

Rana Sana Ullah said during the briefing Punjab government was informed on October 08 there would be threat of terrorism on long march route. IB threat letter was shared with Punjab government. The accused who has been arrested has recorded his formal statement.

The sources added that it was further told to the meeting it has been decided to review the security of leaders of political parties in view the prevailing situation and incidents. Security of political leaders and ministers will be further tightened.

Sources revealed the Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said in the meeting the incident is condemnable and we should reach the bottom of the incident. Federation will extend every assistance and help to Punjab government in investigation of this incident.

Sources revealed the federation has itself decided to investigate the matter.

The PM while regretting over using this incident for political gains has said that without investigating the matter he, interior minister and an intelligence officer have been held responsible.

The leaders of allied parties have also condemned the incident demanding comprehensive investigation in the matter.
