Islamabad: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, Chairperson, Peace and Culture Organization Former Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Human Rights and Women Empowerment, wife of jailed Kashmiri leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, has said that she is deeply distressed by the alarming reports regarding the worsening health of her husband, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who has been unjustly imprisoned for more than six years in Tihar Jail, New Delhi. His continued detention under fabricated and politically motivated cases has now placed his life in grave danger.
In a statement issued on Friday, Mushaal Mullick said that the recent medical evaluations reveal that the metallic heart valve implanted in him in 1990 is no longer functioning properly and must be urgently replaced. Years of isolation, neglect, and lack of medical care have critically damaged his health, and the situation has now become life-threatening.
She said that despite his persistent appeals and even court orders demanding proper medical treatment, the Modi-led Indian government has turned a blind eye. Earlier this week, after another episode of severe chest pain, Yasin was again taken to the Tihar Jail infirmary, a facility utterly ill-equipped for cardiac emergencies or complex surgeries.
Mushaal Mullick said that such inhuman negligence is a blatant violation of human rights, court directives, and the UN's Nelson Mandela Rules, which guarantee every prisoner's right to life and medical care.
'I hold the Government of India directly responsible for the deteriorating condition of my husband. Should any tragedy occur, the world must recognize it as a premeditated act of state cruelty against a man who has dedicated his life to peaceful dialogue and reconciliation' Mushaal Mullick said.
'I appeal to the conscience of the international community, to world leaders including President Donald J. Trump, President Xi Jinping, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and to all human rights organizations to intervene urgently and ensure that Yasin Malik receives immediate cardiac treatment in a specialized hospital under independent international supervision' Mushaal Mullick said.
'At this delicate moment, I urge our people in Jammu and Kashmir, and especially our supporters within the JKLF, to stay calm and vigilant, and to ignore false rumours or misleading social media posts circulating about Yasin Malik or the movement. Authentic updates will continue to be shared only through official and verified channels' she said.
'My husband, Muhammad Yasin Malik, remains a symbol of non-violence and moral courage. His struggle for peace and justice belongs not just to Kashmir but to humanity itself. Denying him the right to treatment is denying the very principles of compassion and civilization. I urge the world to act now - before this silence becomes irreversible' Mushaal Hussein Mullick said.
