Islamabad: Minister of State for Interior Senator Muhammad Talal Chaudhry has said the state and government of Pakistan will not be blackmailed by violent mobs.

Talking to the media in Islamabad on Friday, Talal Chaudhry affirmed that such groups will not be permitted to pursue their vested interests through violence. He acknowledged that the Constitution of Pakistan grants the right to protest, but emphasized that this right comes with specific terms and conditions.

Commenting on the protest organized by Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan in the name of Gaza and Palestine, the Minister of State said all relevant stakeholders, including the people of Gaza and Palestine, as well as Hamas, have welcomed the ceasefire aimed at restoring peace in the region. He said that TLP is spreading unrest under the garb of protest.

He said all the Muslim countries, including Pakistan, have supported the ceasefire in Gaza but violent protest in the name of Palestine is beyond understanding.

Talal Chaudhry further clarified that the government is showing restraint by refraining from the use of force. He, however, made it clear that no violent or armed group will be allowed to disrupt peace and tranquility in the country. He said that peaceful protest is the right of every citizen but permission could not be given for commit violence and unrest. He said that there is no room for carrying out politics or put pressure through violent groups.
