Lahore: PML-N leader and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq has said deliberating over filling the fault lines will be the proper process rather than beating the drums of joy on resignations of judges.
Lamenting the tendering of resignations by the judges after 27th constitutional amendment Khawaja Saad Rafiq said the resignations by judges are source of grave concern for every person dreaming of supremacy of justice, constitution., law and democracy.
Khawaja Saad Rafiq shared a long post on social media wherein he talked about the judges who have recently resigned from their posts.
He wrote Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah resigned from their offices. Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza of Lahore High Court (LHC) too has joined this line by tendering resignation.
He held Justice Athar Minallah remained front line associate during the struggle for the reinstatement of the judges movement. I neither met him after he became judge nor had I came face to face him. To my view he was one of the selective upright and honest judges in the judiciary.
I saw from far off Justice Mansoor Ali Shah working as chief justice of Lahore High Court. Doubtlessly he works without coming under any pressure.
An era is convinced of his uprightness and ability of these judges.
He said in his statement on X. Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza too stands in the line of judges having good repute.
He underlined alleging Justice Shams Mehmood Mirza of having relationship with Suleman Akram Raja too is a childish.
To our knowledge the relationship has never interfered in performance of duty.
The situation is this that two to three judges of Supreme Court (SC) have tendered resignation some time back. But linking the resignations recently given by judges to the resignations which were given earlier will be injustice.
Being political comrade I am heartily distressed over the resignations of these judges. If the latest resignations of the judges is seen through the spectacle of grouping then the scene looks pleasant but if it is seen from neutral perspective then these resignations are sources of grave concern for every one who dreams of supremacy of law, constitution, justice and democracy.
He remarked it seems this string of the resignations will not stop here and it will go to parliament from judiciary.
But it should be kept in mind that every opponent neither can be caught nor can be dubbed anti state.
He went on to say a responsible state keeps the matters cool. Besieged by the enemies the nuclear state Pakistan will afford inner confrontation upto when and where.
It will be proper process to deliberate over filling the fault lines created from these resignations instead of beating the drums of the delight.
