Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal of LHC recuses from hearing petition against by polls in PP-98 Faisalabad

Lahore: Justice Chaudhry Iqbal of Lahore High Court (LHC) has recused from hearing the petition filed against by polls in Punjab Assembly (PA) constituency PP-98 Faisalabad.

The petition came up for hearing Monday before Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal who recused from hearing the petition for personal reasons.

The court earlier has sought reply from federal government and Election Commission (EC).

The petitioner former member Punjab Assembly Junaid Afzal Sahi took the plea he had succeeded in constituency PP-98. However the Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) awarded punishment to him in May 9 case and disqualified him.

The petitioner took the plea appeal is pending hearing in high court against disqualification. It has not been decided finally so far. In this situation Election Commission issued premature by polls schedule in the constituency.

Polling in by polls in PP-98 has been fixed on November 23, 2025.

The petitioner has requested the court to nullify the by polls schedule in this constituency besides staying the by polls therein.
