Islamabad: Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan on Thursday held separate meetings with Interior Secretary Captain (Retd.) Khurram Agha and Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Dr. Usman Anwar to discuss law and order, internal security and the performance of law enforcement agencies.
The meetings were held at Parliament House and focused on national security, public safety and measures to strengthen law enforcement institutions.
During his meeting with the Interior Secretary, discussions covered internal security, counter-terrorism measures, maintenance of law and order and other issues relating to national security.
On the occasion, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan said maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of citizens were among the foremost responsibilities of the state. He emphasized that effective coordination among all institutions was essential for ensuring national security and public safety.
He observed that a peaceful and secure environment was vital for development, investment and public prosperity, and appreciated the sacrifices and services of law enforcement agencies in maintaining peace across the country.
In a separate meeting with DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar, discussions focused on the agency's overall performance, measures against cybercrime, human trafficking, financial crimes and institutional reforms to enhance professional capacity.
The Deputy Chairman Senate commended the FIA for safeguarding national interests, upholding the rule of law and combating organized crime. He particularly appreciated the agency's operations against cybercrime, human trafficking and financial corruption.
DG FIA Dr. Usman Anwar briefed the Deputy Chairman on the FIA's performance, ongoing reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening institutional capacity in line with modern requirements. He reaffirmed the agency's commitment to protecting national security, ensuring the rule of law and serving the public interest.
At the conclusion of the meetings, Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan appreciated the contributions of the Interior Ministry and FIA towards strengthening internal security, rule of law and public safety, and expressed his commitment to promoting greater coordination among state institutions on matters of national importance.
