Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan has said that development through education is the vision of Jamaat-e-Islami.'This is the age of information technology. The provision of 50 computers for government schools by Gulberg Town is a valuable gift. The initiative titled 'Technology Empowerment' by Gulberg Town is commendable, and the town chairman and the entire team deserve congratulations," Monem Zafar Khan said on Monday while addressing a ceremony for the distribution of 50 computers at the auditorium of Rabia Basri Government Girls School, Federal B Area Block 17, and later during a visit to the Samanabad Health Care Unit in Block 18, where he met doctors, staff, and patients and reviewed the provision of affordable medical facilities.The ceremony was attended by a large number of principals, teachers, parents, and students from various schools. Speakers included Ameer District Gulberg Central Kamran Siraj, Gulberg Town Chairman Nusratullah, Town Municipal Commissioner Abdul Ha meed, Director Parks and Land Nadeem Hanif, School Principal Ayesha Qamar, Ms. Nishat, Saiza Kamran, and others.Monem Zafar said that Jamaat-e-Islami is determined to work beyond the limits and will continue to serve the people of Karachi in every sector, including education and health.Referring to the Prime Minister's visit to Karachi, he said, 'Shahbaz Sharif has come to Karachi after six months. When he was not premier, he used to say he would turn Karachi into Paris. We tell him: do not make Karachi Paris-give Karachi its due rights. Return to this city the resources that it generates. We will build and develop Karachi ourselves and restore its vibrancy. This city is ours, and we belong to it; we will not abandon the people of Karachi.'He said that Jamaat-e-Islami is upgrading and restoring schools and health centers in all the nine towns under its administration. 'From 2001 to 2005, during the tenure of Naimatullah Khan, Jamaat-e-Islami established 32 new colleges in the city and introduced IT educ ation in six colleges. But in the 20 years since then, no more than 10 to 12 colleges have been built. Today, although IT education is frequently discussed, nothing is done in practice-schools and colleges do not even have computers.'Criticizing the PPP government, he said, 'The People's Party has been ruling Sindh for 17 years and has destroyed every sector, including education and health. The education budget of Sindh is 613 billion rupees and the health budget is 371 billion rupees-together more than 1,000 billion rupees-but hospitals lack basic facilities, and students do not have the essentials in schools and colleges.'He said that 7.8 million children aged 5 to 16 in Sindh are out of school, while the number for the entire country is 26.2 million, despite the constitutional requirement under Article 25-A for the state to provide free education.'Education, health, and public service have always been the priorities of Jamaat-e-Islami. Over the past two years, we have continued to work on these lines . Despite not being in government, Jamaat-e-Islami launched the Bano Qabil IT Program in Karachi, offering free IT courses to youth. So far, more than 50,000 students have completed free IT courses and are supporting their families, while 1.2 million young people have registered for the program.'He said that 42 government schools in his town have been improved and restored, resulting in an increase of 7,000 new student registrations.
