Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has strongly condemned the Srinagar Investigation Agency's (SIA) raid on the house of illegally incarcerated JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and other Hurriyat activists, terming it an attempt to terrorize their families.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, DFP spokesman Advocate Arshad Iqbal said the Indian government has unleashed its so-called investigation agencies to harass and humiliate pro-freedom leaders and activists as part of a broader strategy to suppress dissent in the region.

Referring to the raids carried out in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley, he said the harassment of families, vandalism, and contemptuous conduct of the agency's personnel during search operations reflect the depths to which the Indian government can stoop to achieve its nefarious designs.

On the reopening of old and fictitious cases against pro-freedom leaders, including Yasin Malik, the spokesman said it was deeply unfortunate that the Indian authorities continue to victimise the Kashmiri leadership solely for representing the true aspirations of the people and advancing their just cause.

He said that on one hand, there is talk of resolving the Kashmir dispute, while on the other, India is relentlessly persecuting Kashmiris to enforce complete silence on the issue - a policy that exposes the duplicity of its claims and the hollowness of its so-called democracy.
