Islamabad: 9 accused including doctors, paramedics and hospital staff have been arrested in operation against the illegal transplantation of kidneys.

A major operation against the illegal transplantation of kidneys is continuing under the directives of health minister Syed Mustafa Kamal.

During a joint operation HOTA and FIA conducted raid on Quaid-e-Azam International Hospital .

A dangerous kidney trafficking group was unearthed during the raid which was extracting kidneys of poor people forcibly and selling them.

During the raid 9 key accused including doctors, paramedics and hospital staff were arrested.

FIA has confirmed the pace of investigation has been accelerated and crack down will continue against the other kidney trafficking groups.

According to health department sources this action is not aimed at arresting only a few persons but the entire mafia net work has to be exposed and eliminated.

Those arrested are charged with extracting kidneys of poor people from South Punjab forcibly and selling them illegally.
