Dr Fowzia urges rulers to respond to distress call of Aafia Siddiqui

Karachi: Noted neurophysician of the country and the head of Epilepsy Foundation of Pakistan and Aafia Movement Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has said that the Labor Day, May 1, is not only the day for labors, but also for to assist and help all the oppressed people of the world like Dr Aafia Siddiqui.In a statement on the occasion of the international Labor Day, here Thursday, she said that the May Day also means a distress signal from the passengers of a sinking ship to seek help. She said Dr Aafia has been sending this distress signal to the nation and its rulers for the last 22 years.She said to pay wages to a worker, to feed the hungry, and to help free a prisoner results in the blessings of God. She said today the whole world is witnessing sheer injustice, but Dr Aafia Siddiqui is the living example of such persons who brave individual injustice.Dr Fowzia Siddiqui said today that responding to the distress call of Aafia Siddiqui is the duty of every Pakistani. She said though it is the primary responsibility of our government, if the government faces any pressure it should believe that the whole Pakistani nation would stand to support it. She urged the masses to continue to remind the government of this duty and also give it the needed support and confidence.Dr Fowzia Siddiqui said that we will continue our struggle till the daughter of the nation, Aafia Siddiqui, is freed and back home. She said in this regard we would use all available options and forums. She told the supporters of Aafia Movement to continue their work and Allah, the Almighty, would grant them success.On the occasion, she fully supported the demands of workers and said that they should be given all their due rights.
