Drug Control Peshawar Raids Karkhano Market for Illegal Drugs

PESHAWAR: A team from Peshawar's Drug Control unit conducted a raid at Karkhano Market as part of a Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department initiative targeting illicit and dangerous drugs. Dr. Abbas, the Director General of Drugs and Pharmacy Services, reported that the operation resulted in the permanent closure of 23 illegal drug display counters and the confiscation of a substantial quantity of counterfeit medications. Additionally, three individuals were apprehended during the raid and handed over to local law enforcement for further legal proceedings.

Dr. Abbas further stated that 24 First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed against individuals involved in the illicit trade of unregistered, counterfeit, and harmful drugs within Karkhano Market, Peshawar. A dedicated ongoing campaign against illegal drugs and counterfeit medicines will be carried out daily with the aim of enhancing the quality and accessibility of medications for those in need.
