Easy come, easy go: Back dated salaries about Rs crore paid to reinstated MNAs

Islamabad: Backdated salaries and allowances for over one year have been paid to legislators following their reinstatement on reserved seats of National Assembly (NA).

Those who have received back dated salaries include 16 women and 3 minority community members. Over 33 lac each were paid to restored Members of National Assembly (MNAs)

According to NA sources NA secretariat has paid salaries to 19 MNAs who have been restored on reserved seats. About Rs 6 crore have been paid to these MNAs.

As per sources salaries against 13 months and 19 days have been paid to these legislators.

NA sources said the salaries and allowances have been disbursed after seeking opinion from ministry of law.

Income tax amounting to Rs 24 lac has been deducted from the remaining salary of MNAs. 65 percent tax and 9 percent surcharge were recovered on surpassing the salary of one crore per year.

Overall 4.32 crore tax was recovered as per NA sources .

NA sources said Supreme Court (SC) had suspended the MNAs against reserved seats on May 13, 2024 and restored all of them on July 2, 2025.

Samina Ghurki MNA from PPP was paid Rs 3 lac due to her restoration after three months.
