Islamabad: Election Commission (EC) while directing to provide requisite documents in connection with Local Bodies (LB) polls in KP has adjourned hearing of the case till July 7.

The case regarding LB polls in KP came up for hearing in EC on Wednesday.

A 4-member bench of EC under member Sindh took up the case for hearing Wednesday.

Secretary Local Bodies KP appeared in EC.

He told EC that chief secretary could not appear due to high level security related meeting on Wednesday.

Secretary local bodies informed the EC that 7 new Tehsils have been established in the province. . Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) was approached for maps. Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has asked us to contact EC.

New districts are not included in the schedule of local government act. The summary related to number of new districts has been sent for approval. Schedule will stand implemented following approval from KP cabinet and governor.

EC authorities pointed out KP government has not provided maps of 15 districts so far.

Bench directed EC authorities to obtain the requisite material from KP government forthwith.

EC also directed KP government to file requisite reply and documents.

EC made it clear that presence of local bodies secretary be ensured on next hearing.

Hearing of the case was adjourned till July 7.
